Gary K is a nationally renowned recovery advocate, Hazelden author, and addiction educator with over 29 years in long-term recovery. Once a Broadway actor whose career and family were shattered by addiction, Gary has rebuilt his life and dedicated it to helping others find freedom from alcoholism and substance use disorder.

Today, Gary combines science, spirituality, and storytelling to change the way people think about addiction. His unique style connects with audiences of all backgrounds — from treatment centers and high schools to medical professionals, drug courts, and national conferences.

For over 20 years, he has studied the neurobiology of addiction and researched the archives of Alcoholics Anonymous in New York, Akron, and at Brown University.
